On Saturday, November 1 just before 2:00 a.m. an assault and robbery occurred near the intersection of Harvard Street SE and Beacon Street SE on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota Campus.

A victim was walking southbound along the east side of Harvard Street when a female approached, asked about the victim’s phone, and then grabbed the phone and ran toward a group of 10 to 12 other individuals. When the victim gave chase, members of the group assaulted him.

A friend of the victim who attempted to assist was also assaulted and was robbed of his wallet. No weapons were used in the incident and neither victim is affiliated with the University of Minnesota.

UMPD officers responded to the area quickly and took six suspects into custody. One suspect was identified as being involved in the assault and was arrested and the other five suspects were identified. As stated earlier, there may have been 10 to 12 total suspects in the incident, some of whom fled the area before officers arrived.

Odd that there is no description of any of the suspects….
