Letter from a Luke Bryan concert in Indianapolis.

Hey Colin,

I have a good story for you! I am a 40 something year old white male living in a suburb of northern Indianapolis. I work for public service, I am married with kids.

While attending a concert for Luke Bryan at Klipsch Music Center recently, I got into a “don’t make the black kids angry” moment. It was a beautiful 80 degree sunny day and I was there with my wife, some co-workers and Friends.

We were all tailgating and having fun before we went into the concert. When the concert started, we picked our seat in the lawn by marking it with two large blankets where we met up with about four other friends.

The racial makeup of the audience was overwhelmingly white I would say 99% of the 20,000 people there were white. I saw maybe four black people at this country concert. We were enjoying the concert with no incidents of aggression anywhere just happy white people dancing laughing and drinking.

One of the black people that was at this concert was standing next to our blanket with his group of about four white people and his what I assumed white girlfriend. He was Black, about 6’1″, 180 lb early 20s with an edgerrin James type haircut.

Earlier in the evening their gang was smoking pot and my friend who is also in public service told them to please blow it the other way, they said something under their breath and then kind of stopped. They were many young children in attendance at this concert as a side note.

When that happened I had a heightened sense of aggression coming from him for the rest of the night until the incident occurred, I could tell he had a chip on his shoulder and he was going to fight with someone (white). I couldn’t help it but think of all the videos and information I have seen and learned about you and your channel running through my head.

It put me in a heightened sense of awareness. After about an hour with no incident at the concert, the black gentleman was getting shifty and was trying to move around a lot. He put his shoulder down when he was trying to leave the one area by us and rammed into me what seems like deliberately. I turned around immediately to confront him but he was already walking off and it looked like he said sorry.

My friend noticed that he saw him and it look like he did it deliberately and rammed into me. So he returned kind of pushing his girlfriend around and arguing and I told my friend to watch him because he’s going to do something. About 5 minutes later he was kind of arguing with his girlfriend and pushing her as if to leave the lawn area ramming into my wife, stepping on our blanket and two younger kids that were sitting on her blanket.

I put my hands up and said “watch out” as I touched him, and he immediately tried to tackle me screaming “don’t ever touch me mother fucker” (after he had deliberately rammed into us twice). As we fell to the ground I threw my legs out so I landed on top of him and just started hitting him in the face with a barrage of punches.

If I had not had a heightened sense of awareness and was not paying attention to this fella, he would have been on top of me and hitting me instead of vice versa. Well after I hit him with what seemed to be about 20 punches someone jumped on my back and pulled me off with a choke hold. As we fell backwards onto the ground I spun my head around as he was choking me and I started punching him in the face and he let go.

After all was said and done I think that guy was just trying to break up the fight but regardless he got punched by me then he let me go. When I got pulled off the guy my friend grabbed the black fellow by his neck to pull him off and get him away from our area. My wife was covered in beer from the fella rushing me and knocking the beer out of my hand and getting all over her.

I kept thinking about your videos and the black mob violence and black people fight as a group. His friends who were white did not participate with their friend in the fracas. I guess you have to be ready for violence. (“Good men skilled in violence” I think the saying goes.)

After we were broken apart they called security on the fellow and he took off. My shirt was ripped from the confrontation and the concert was 80% over so we just decided to leave. I refuse to be a victim.

From your videos and books, interviews I realized I needed to be in a heightened sense of awareness to deal with this nonsense all the time. I can’t even fathom what it must be like to have to deal with this type of violence all the time!? Thanks a million Colin things will never be the same but for the better I appreciate all the truths and facts.

xx
