Letter from a black high school.
Colin,
I attended an all Black High School for my first two years in H. S. We were poor and could not afford to move when the neighborhood changed. Eventually, we moved and my last two years were spent in a High School that consisted of 33% Whites, 33% Blacks and 33% Hispanics with 1% other.
In my first High School that had 3,000 Black students and me , life was difficult. Every day was a day being terrorized by older 19 year old “Freshmen” who were allowed to remain in school despite being emancipated adults. I was 13 years old. Verbal racial taunts were a daily occurrence. Intimidation and robbery were secondary occurrences. Gang attacks where I was beaten and knocked to the ground and stomped, occurred on school grounds, and off site as well.
Teachers were also intimidated and the subject of verbal and physical attacks. Teachers did not come to my aid for fear that they would then be attacked. Because The Lord was with me I became a survivor and learned to defend myself without sustaining serious injury, hallelujah.
The Black community has been Dysfunctional for generations. It is at the point today that the Black community is a Criminal community. Lawlessness is the norm, not the exception. More than 70% of Black children in America are born into father-less homes. The absence of Black fathers leads to an absence of discipline and parental authority in the home. That absence of authority leads to a dysfunctional family unit. Dysfunctional families lead to pathologies that terminate in criminal and anti-social behavior.
