Letter from a parking lot shooting.
Hi Colin,
I’ve been on my toes since I got shot by a dindu back in October of 2013. Shot at me 41x and hit me 4x and I returned fire shooting him and ending the fight but my aim wasn’t so good with my glasses getting knocked off so he survived.
He never even wore handcuffs and the detective asked me countless times if I shot him because he was black? I should have asked if he asked him if he shot me because I was white because the guy called me, my cousin and a friend crackers about 3-4 times before he pulled the gun on us.
Shot once in each leg, torn quadriceps tendon, shot in the stomach causing a perforated diaphragm and liver, collapsed lung, broken rib and shot once in the back while shielding my friend and moving him to safety which broke my shoulder blade.
All over him almost backing into my cousin in the parking lot of our apartment complex. My cousin thought it was a good idea to stop and argue with the guy even though i told him to keep going. I tried to diffuse the situation and of course he wasn’t having it and pulled a gun. Apparently he was a drug dealer.
After the shooting in which I could have finished him off but he threw his weapon and so I retreated around an apartment building and waited for police and EMS to arrive. While I waited his friends got rid of the drugs he had in his car and tried to hide his gun.
The police knew this and they knew that he shot at my unarmed cousin and friend yet they still never arrested him. They said that they couldn’t determine the primary aggressor so the DA dropped the case… Sorry I had to vent a bit. It never even made the evening news…
