Dear Colin,

I’ve been a professional journalist for 25 years. In journalism school, I was taught to never mention the race of story subjects, in accordance with the AP stylebook, unless it was absolutely essential to the story. I thought it was wrong when I was taught this, but of course I followed along because I needed to work, and every news organization I’ve worked at has enforced this policy.

I stepped away from organized journalism several years ago and moved to rural northern California. This has enabled me to truly open my eyes on issues concerning race in America. Your videos and now your book, “Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry,” has been instrumental in this process. Your rhetorical style–never using racial epithets or denigrating language–is a refreshing alternative to many white commentators on this subject. It adds credibility to your work, and I plan on incorporating this style in my own writings on this topic.

I recently began reading “Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry” and have been shocked at the level of black mob violence you’ve documented, as well as the denial of the racial element in these incidents by news media. I noticed this denial during my career yet I’m startled how far it has been taken in recent years. When I try to bring this subject up with my former colleagues, they respond by saying I’ve gone full blown racist. Oh well.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your work. I believe it is important, and have found it incredibly enlightening. Please keep it up!

In 1989 my family moved from .

In Findlay Ohio, I knew one black family my best friend I didn’t know about racial hostility or that race was an issue. We moved into a good neighborhood, a neighborhood that my working class family could barely afford because my parents wanted what was best for their son.

Unfortunately for me, Louisville employs bussing, irresponsible policy instituted by well meaning libtards. I was in the five percent at price elementary. I was daily subject to racial violence. Kicked in the testicles daily, punched daily threatened daily, told daily how my mother was a s** object in f****** elementary school.

My elementary school was so bad recess was canceled because some black bastard was barfing up on our playground. Our school was one of the first i. The nation to have “code purple drills ” aka active shooter drills. When I decided to defend myself I was sent to a school counselor and evaluated as a psychopath by a school counselor because I did so.

In 4th grade, a dare officer was almost disarmed by a student and was fired for for defensive action when a student tried to grab his gun.

In 5th grade, I struggled to raise my grades to get to a better school and only found myself in another school plagued by black violence JCTMS. A school that was supposed to be better and where was subjected to more racial violence that as a boy I did not understand. Broken teeth threats against my family and father who was sick.

I even carried a weapon be because my father was threatened. At the time he was unable to get out of bed because of health problems. I was threatened that he would be killed. Or my dad gonna f*** you dad up. It was so bad I carried a length of 3/4 inch chain in my coat because they said they would kill my dad dad.

In 7th grade I was expelled from JCPS because I defended myself “using my trombone as a war hammer when I was attacked for maybe the 20th time. They tore up my books and broke another tooth but i couldn’t take it any more.

I didn’t understand why my color mattered but I wanted to live. I even stole pepper spray to defend myself, after I was disarmed by the vice principal i bought “binacca” as a alternative to pepper spray. 5 broken teeth in three years.

I was a fat nerdy looser who just wanted to be to be left alone and got tired of being assaulted. This was in 1996 and its gotten worse in my city. I’m an adult now trapped in a lower middle class part of my city. I carry two guns and two knives every time I leave my home.

My only security at home is two German Shepherds that protect my wife and daughter while I break my back to stay afloat meanwhile these black bastards flood my neighborhood with heroine. I don’t hate blacks I’m just tired of them trying to hurt me.

I’m honored that you responded to me and would be equally honored if i could help your work in some way. Please encourage all your listeners to provide themselves with some means of self defense be it guns dogs tasers knives martial arts. I’m a very loving and gentle person but I refuse to be hurt anymore.

Please forgive my poor typing. I have very fat fingers and typing is difficult for me. I respect your work Colin and I want to help anyway I can. I am willing to provide the names of school admins in future messages as well as further details. Thanks for what you are doing.

I think you’re quite right to say you’re saving lives. One of them might have been my own!

This summer I applied for a couple of new jobs at a well-known company in DC. I was even able to interview for them, but between the time of the applications and the interviews I had already decided I would turn down the company down if I received any offers. (That took a little stress off of the occasions!) Fortunately I was but one of many people applying and didn’t get picked, which saved me from having to say “No thanks.”

Why would I turn the company down? When I took a good look at the jobs, I found that one would have me coming to and going from a work location in the blackest part of DC at all hours of the night. Another position would have had me working an evening shift and departing the building at 11 p.m., either walking several blocks to the nearest Metro station or getting into my car in the parking lot that’s open to the [ghetto] public. A white guy alone in the ghetto late at night — how will that turn out? Would pretending that my heart is pure and that I hold no racist feelings protect me from being beaten, robbed or murdered? I don’t think so.

Even before the interviews my wife insisted that I not take the jobs and said she’d be worried sick each night before I came home. (If I came home!)

If I believed the BS spouted by the say-nothing media about how crime is going down, how DC has become “gentrified” and it’s safe now, I might have been tempted to think the jobs were in alright areas, when they really aren’t.

Absolutely, in fact, that’s why I started carrying in the first place. Of course, I knew the risk I was taking because they told us specifically not to carry a weapon. I got pulled over and was therefore very late coming back from that run requiring me to give some explanation. I didn’t think it was a big deal to tell the truth, so I did. Well, they checked up on it the next day and found out what had happened. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I got the call (I had driven to Subway for lunch before work and got the call from my boss right after I pulled out of the parking lot).

It was pretty much common knowledge around here that a delivery driver was in danger whenever he was at work (even in an area like the one I was in where there was a small but geographically concentrated black population). I’d have to go look up the details to see if what I had heard about drivers being murdered was real (you and I know it almost certainly was–especially considering we’re talking about Little Rock, AR).

But what is perhaps more interesting are all of the events that eventually led me to your YouTube channel. Just like the naive pseudo-liberal I was back then I didn’t think it was a big deal to move my family into the actual city of Little Rock. Needless to say I’ve had to brandish my gun at least once, call the police several times for domestic issues (not mine), had 3 guns, a laptop, camera, cell phone, etc. stolen out of my car (more than 1 occasion). Had a black homeless guy jack my weed-eater after I paid him to weed-eat my lawn. A (white) friend of mine was raped all night, at gunpoint *in my girlfriend’s apartment* by two black men who were never caught. I witnessed the tail-end of an armed robbery in which two black men stole a phone, purse, wallet, etc. from a woman with a baby stroller. He threatened to kill her baby apparently…
And I had a brand new, $500 bike stolen.

I, idiotically, used to ride to/from school (UALR) at all hours of the night. People were constantly robbed, beaten and sometimes shot at/killed within close proximity to that school (it’s an island of white/Asian right in the middle of diversity). There was a girl who was abducted from the same parking lot I used when I drove to school. I was interviewed by the local paper after the incident. Her body was later found in a swamp. I don’t know if they ever caught him but I’m almost certain the prime suspect was her black boyfriend.

I could probably go on and on if I really sat down and thought about it, but I’ll cut you some slack.

P.S.
And then, of course, there’s my brother-in-law who lives right smack-dab in the middle of diversity in New Orleans. He has been stabbed on two separate occasions by two different black men. The most notable incident is where her was riding his bike, a man asked to bum a smoke and when he did the man stabbed him literally in the back and ran off. Didn’t try to steal anything.

So, yeah, I know I’m not the only one so how can anybody in the South be in denial past their mid-20s or so? I may never fully understand.

Oh, and his (brother in law) 85 year old grandma was struck by a car on W Esplanade in Metarie (New Orleans). The person drove off and was never caught, however, witnesses described the driver as being, you guessed it, a black male. She died about a year later.

I went to Hillcrest Elementry school and high school there in Memphis. There was not a single day that went by where I was not assaulted because i was white.

The teachers and staff could not punish the students for there actions against me in fear that it would make it worse. We eventually had to move as doctors that I was being beat by my parents but it was by the kids at school.

But no one would believe me or my parents because nothing was ever reported or documented by school staff, also black.The breaking point was after I was stabbed. Thank god those days are over.

I understand today that the kids were simply acting the way they were taught by there stupid racist parents. I was not taught to be racist and for a long time I did not understand why the black kids hated me so much. Of course i learned quick it was of course because of my skin color.

I don’t hold any grudges or ill will towards anyone. I am thankful i was able to get past it and get an education in spite of two years of pure hell.

Colin one thing I know for a fact that I have learned over the years, is that black people only respect a persons capacity for violence. I learned this the hard way. It took years of abuse until I really understood how they think. I was raised to be non violent and turn the other cheek and the world is peachy ex hippy mother.

Although the concept of her thinking sounded great on face value, it did not stop me from coming home a bloody mess from just waiting for the bus at the bus stop. Getting punched in my face simply because I was white and very quiet and I told the perpetrator named Tyrone, fighting was wrong and I would not fight back.

Well not standing up for yourself causes a pattern, before long I had multiple bullies wanting to assault me for fun and this jerk named Tyrone made it a habit. My mother didn’t believe that there’s actually people out there that just wanted to hurt people for fun.

After a while I decided to walk to school to avoid the school bus stop assaults, but school was no better or safer. So this went on until I dropped out of school in the 9th grade. So at this point I was a pot head to dull my feelings. But I also acquired a huge tolerance for pain from all the beatings. And was starting to go a little crazy to be honest, I mean who can get attacked constantly without it effecting their mental health.

I had learned I had to stop listening to mom, she grew up in a different time and a different environment for sure. At this point I decided to stand up for myself.

Now on to the robbery, and robbery is a bonus its totally secondary, the goal for these people is to hurt a fair skinned person like myself, I truly believe that. But to make out with an award they will be all the more happy with that too after the main goal which is a assault. So I’m going to get to the point, Colin there’s so much I could tell you man, but I’m going to end it at this story for that proves my point about them only respecting a persons capacity for violence.

Here we go – I’m in a store down town Troy same area actually where the police are fighting in your recent video. I’m buying baseball cards, I liked to collect them when I was younger, my bike is outside chained to a tree. So a group of teenage blacks come into the store, they are looking around and fix there sights on me, now at this point I’m hyper vigilant.

I watch everything. They whisper to each other and go out side the store I can see them through the big windows, they keep looking through the window at me and I know whats going to go down when I go out side. So I walk out I hear something, white boy ect. I’m trying to get to my bike I was way outnumbered, I was trying to avoid a physical battle.

Long story short I get punched in my face, but the reaction they expected did not happen, I didn’t go down, I didn’t cry I didn’t beg, what I did was pull out a seven inch blade and told them to come on. They spread out became very scared one grabbed a brick acted like he was going to hit me with it I started walking towards him with my knife in hand, funny thing is, one of his friends actually knocked the brick out of his hand and told me I could go. I jumped on my bike and rode off, and I learned something that day, we have to stand up to these people, they want easy targets.

Well there’s one very personal story for you, sadly I have more than one to tell you if your truly interested.

Mr. Colin Flaherty I’m from South St. Louis, and this has been happening for as long as I can remember. My cousin got robbed and almost died back in the 80’s. He’d just gotten out of the service, and ended up in the hospital for months because of it.

I remember getting on the elementary school bus and gangs of black kids throwing rocks at the bus. The police would have to come out and watch and make sure no one got hurt. This was at Madison elementary down in the city.

St. Louis man recovering after beating, robbery

ST. LOUIS • David Vo remains hospitalized but is expected to recover after being robbed and beaten by three teenagers Wednesday in St. Louis, family members said.

Vo, 67, suffered bruising on his brain, deep gashes in his face and a fractured eye socket, according to his daughter-in-law, Kristina Vo.

“It was extremely scary,” she said. “Everybody’s sense of safety is shaken from all the crime that’s happening around the city.”

Vo was taking his daily afternoon walk along Taft Avenue in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood about 4 p.m. Wednesday when three teen boys approached him asking for money.

Vo kept walking, and was then jumped by the teenagers, police say. A witness saw the teens punch Vo and then run down an alley.

David Vo, an immigrant from Vietnam, has lived in the neighborhood for 15 years. The Vo family is thankful for the concern and prayers from neighbors and would like to find the good Samaritans who helped the man after the mugging.

One person called 911 and another stayed with Vo until an ambulance arrived.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.

“Everybody needs to pay attention to their surroundings, to pay attention to your neighbors. You never know, sometimes you might be a witness to a crime,” Kristina Vo said.

Dear parents,

Our names are Denise an Robert West (parents of Morgan West).

I would like to open dialog with the parents of Phi Delt and the entire student body regarding the Mugging of our son, Morgan, on Sept 19th, at gun point and his pistol whipping that sent him to the hospital at Emory for a head injury and stitches. The police and University have done nothing to find and catch these thugs. This is now followed by the brutal beating of Jimmy Hubert. Again, no real involvement with law enforcement or The University.

We as parents need to get involved and insure that our children are safe at Tech. we are making a large investment in both our children’s safety and financial to be told that this is life in Atlanta. I refuse to allow this to continue to happen to not only our Phi Delta students but another students at Ga. Tech. There have been several muggings of our students since this semester began.

My son, Morgan, was mugged getting into his car at his front door of his house at 7pm. He was not in a bad area of Atlanta, he was in his rental house about 6 blocks off campus. This is NOT ok. Jimmy was leaving a sorority sponsored function. This should NEVER happen to our bright and loved children. The University was swift to find our fraternity guilty of accusations without due process, but when it comes to the safety and well being of our children and their students, Where are they?? What are they doing to prevent future assaults and to rehab our boys from the psychological fall out of these episodes?

Both the Hubert family and our family (West) need the support of the parents and governing body of Phi Delta Theta to assure our kids, who chose Georgia Tech, will be safe to complete their area of study. Both Morgan and Jimmy are 4th year Aerospace engineering students.

This happens every day in Atlanta schools.

I was driving by a school in DeKalb Co. around 3 pm, and I saw a large group of students, around 50, where chasing a smaller kid, he broke free and ran full sprint across a 4 lane highway and almost got hit a couple of times.

What surprised me the most, all the kids picked up these white colored, ornamental landscaping rocks and at least 30 kids started chunking them at the kid across the street. The traffic had stopped and the kids were pelting all the cars in traffic.

My truck was hit twice. Some good Samaritan put the kid in his car and drove off and the 30 kids were running on both sides of the road, and some were running in the middle turning lane, chasing the car. They caught the car about 100 yards at the next red light. They converged on the car and started kicking and pounding on the car, trying to pull the kid out.

The driver drove over the curb and on the sidewalk and drove through a business yard and cut through the parking lot to get away from the attack. Its great to live in Atlanta. Good times……
