Letter from New Hampshire

Dear Colin,

How are you? I just wanted to reach out through your Facebook page. I read White Girl Bleed A Lot and am waiting to see if I win the rights to an autographed copy of Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry before I purchase it. What you’re doing with these stories is brave and admirable. Thank you for being the voice of a major issue that everyone is afraid to speak out about.

I live in New Hampshire, and grew up in Massachusetts. As you can imagine, I have many liberal friends and my family is very liberal as well. I’m considered the “racist” of the family for speaking out about this epidemic issue of black violence.  Granted, we’re not exposed to many black folks in our part of the state, which may very well be the reason for the pure ignorance. I suppose that can be understood. But, when I educate them and throw facts at them about the crimes rates of said race, they simply don’t want to hear it.

As sad as this is to say, I want to “like” your Facebook page, but I don’t want all my Facebook friends seeing that and starting World War III over it. I check it every day though and notice that I had missed about 12 news instances of black violent crimes over the country. I’ve listened to most of your Youtube videos as well, and as I’ve said, read your first book.

Well, I just wanted to reach out and tell you that I am proud of the work you’re doing. I’m not sure if you respond to these inquiries or not, but I have a few questions for you: Do you ever receive threats of any kind because of your writing? And secondly, do you ever try reaching out to “higher-ups” about all of this? I mean, this is a major thing. It’s costing innocent people their lives and livelihood because very few know the truth and are aware of this.  It’s such a sad thing. I used to write articles about black violence about 13-14 years ago. It was out of hand THEN. My local newspaper actually published an article I had written which caught me by complete surprise.

Well, keep up the great work. Please do respond if you’d like.

xx
