I grew up in the North Bay of San Francisco in town called Vallejo in the 70’s and 80’s, which has a high percentage of minorities, including blacks. I was assaulted on nearly a weekly basis by blacks.
My brothers and I would walk to school and go blocks around to avoid groups of blacks we knew to be trouble. In fact I was asaulted by a black teenager in my softmor year and my nose was so severely broken I needed surgery.
However, my very best friend in high school was black. I grew up in a Christian home where my parents taught me that certain people were bad, not groups of people with certain colors.
If anyone in this world could have had an excuse to be racist it was us.
However the teaching of my parents of Christ and his love was enough for me to get through this and I honestly feel pity for these people. I do however keep my eyes peeled and maintain good situational awareness and teach that to my children. They too have grown up to be color blind, praise God.
