Letter from a white boy in a black neighborhood.

Colin,

It real hard to set one situation aside from other I can tell you that the elementary school I went to (2-6 grade) only had 2-3 white boys.

Me and another kid use took take turns fighting our way home after school. One of us would run the other would punch that’s if one could get away.

Every day kid would start with us, we know no matter what we said there was going to be a fight. Like packs of animals it would never be 1 on1. There was a mob mentality. Even at that age it would get blood.

The only way to get home from school was a bridge up a hill or a steep hill. They would call use white devil, white, honkey and everything else. Honestly at that age I didn’t even understand that I was a different color, what the color difference meant or the whole history behind the racial situation in America.

Sh*t I even went to a Black Southern Baptist Church as a kid. Recently I watched a video of a little kid in Sweden or some other country taken over by Muslim going threw almost the same out casting. The only difference is his parents weren’t in denial.

It wasn’t until junior high “7th grade” that I was around other white kids. Some of them were strange to me and me to them.

By that time I was in sex/drugs and rock n roll , filled with anger and hate and more then happy to fight back, but it was still outnumbered going threw the street to get home. They would usually not start with me one on one.

I remember in 7th grade a previous friend of mine that was now influenced by the racist doctrine of his older brother and the Nation of Islam started with me verbally and tried to assault me in the school cafeteria. I ended up fighting back with a food tray and throwing him into walls and heating radiators.

He has a big fat kid. I learned early to start punch at the beginning of a conflict, continue the fight until it was done and use anything or method you could use “animalistic”. The hall monitor who was black told the vice-principal who was black that I was defending myself. Despite that fact the vice-principle let him go and suspended me from school. The hall monitor went to my house told my mother I was just defending myself. That was the only time that my mother came to my defense. She called the school and got me in the next day. Looking back at it incidence like that could be why they usually never came at me one on one.

I can tell you about the last time this happened. The day that lead to me leaving my mother house, got emancipated as a miner, dropped out of 10th grade and started working as an adult.

I was coming home on my 10 speed bike. I went to school that day and work after school. While riding by basket ball court 3-4 older blacks started yelling at me.

I starting going faster, after all I was only a block away from home. They started chasing me down the street and some way caught me and pulled me off my bike onto a pill of brick into an abandon lot. They started kicking the sh*t out of me every part of my body.

I pulled a knife out of my pocket “by the grace of God” and started sticking it in and out of there legs. The knife got stuck into one of there legs. One or two of them jumped on my bike and took off leaving there friend to run of.

I made my way home covered in blood. I knocked on my front door because it was locked. I had already called my mother and told her I was staying at a friend’s house. She didn’t let me in. She told me was I drunk. I had a couple beers but by that time I was beaten sober.

I grew up drinking, she stopped drinking, she did like me drinking out of the house, by that time I drank to survive. I lost it started screaming and yelling.

In my rage, I pulled of the screen door. She called the cops. I think I walked right by them after all they never came to that neighborhood and probably did expect to be look for a white violator in that neighborhood.

A month before that my guidance councilor who was black her self told me to “get out of my mother house and that Ni%$# neighborhood”.

She told me that I would go crazy. I told her it was too late for that. She told me that someone would kill me. I think because she was that affluent aunt of a affluent black friend she already knew the craziness I was going threw and that I was carrying weapons everywhere to defend myself.
