Letter from Junior High: Black racial hostility in school.

colinflahertyTransparent2.pngHi Colin,

My daughter was in the nurse’s station today at school, not feeling well, and a black boy came in and told the nurse he had a sore throat, the nurse asked him if he would like anything and he told her, “a cough drop.”

She gave him one and started to leave and stopped and asked her if could have another and she said, “no, you can’t.”

He turned around to walk out and muttered, “racist,” under his breath.

The nurse called him back in and asked him what he said and when he told her she said never to say that again to her, that she can only give one cough drop out at a time and it has nothing to do with race.

My daughter feels very unsafe at her school for some reason….(she’s in 9th grade).
