Letter from a cop in Texas.
First of all, thanks for what you do. I am a police detective with a police department in Texas.
I have been on for more than 20 years and my father, before me, was a homicide detective with even more time on the job. Everything you say in your videos is the truth, it is too bad that we cannot point out those facts regarding crimes and race without being labeled a racist.
We honestly have never had a race problem, per say in this city. There are certain black neighborhoods within the city which still have “flare-ups” in gang shooting between the Bloods and the Crips.
I started my career patrolling those areas in 1989 and those problems have never fully gone away.
In San Antonio, the mayor who was elected as the first black female to ever be elected in this city, has created a task force to address relations between police and the community. It was created as a result of the recent high profile shootings covered in the media. Read this article in which the Mayor cited one of the reasons the task force created:
The quote from the article which really caught my attention was the following:
” “As a mom, I was paralyzed when my own 12 year old showed me footage of the incident in Baton Rouge on the computer and cried as she said ‘Mommy, why do they keep doing this to us?’ While police accountability and transparency has sparked national debate and is a public policy issue, it’s also deeply personal for so many people,” Mayor said.”
I wonder how much of a fair shake we, as police officers, will get in the event of a racially charged shooting.
Anyway, the whole reason for this email was a news story I found in this city which was an interesting sidenote to the shooting which took place in Charlotte. I thought I would share this with you.
Again, please keep up the good work. Many of us appreciate you uncovering the false narrative being exploited in the media today. I do my best to spread the word about your work with everyone who will listen.
