Black on white crime in Denver, and what I got wrong in Ferguson.
Denver is one of those places I love to talk about, always asking this question: did you know Denver is the site of regular and intense black mob violence?
Police issued a crime alert Monday for 4-5 suspects who are on a major crime spree in Denver. Officers are looking for any information that might lead them to the suspects.
Investigators say the males have committed at least 12 street robberies at gunpoint, two store robberies at gunpoint and one carjacking between January 24 and February 10. They committed five robberies in one day on January 29.
These are just some of the hundreds of examples of racial violence and lawlessness in more than 80 cities around the country as documented in my book: White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America.
Thomas Sowell said : ”Reading Colin Flaherty’s book made painfully clear to me that the magnitude of this problem is greater than I had discovered from my own research. He documents both the race riots and the media and political evasions in dozens of cities.” – National Review.
The racial beatings are back in Denver. Just like last year, the year before, and the two years before that.
Then, like now, the alleged perpetrators are black. The victims are not. This time, however, police told anyone who wanted to know about the pattern of racial violence. And how at least one victim said he and his friend were part of the Knockout Game.
Some Denver media thought it was important to report the description. Others, however, followed the lead of the Denver Post, which said the attacks were “random” and refused to report the race of the alleged predators.
Also like the Post, most local media did not report Denver’s history of recent racial violence, some under the name of the Knockout Game.
The most recent attacks happened downtown, New Year’s Eve. Police say Nick Lloyd was one of at least four victims. Lloyd “was waiting for a ride with a friend near 20th and Market streets when they were both punched in the face,” said the local ABC affiliate, “The blow fractured his face in several places and broke his jaw on both sides.”
“Basically my whole cheek is caved in,” Lloyd said, pointing to his swollen and bruised face.
The public did not become aware of the pattern of violence until five days later because some of the victims did not come forward right away, police told ABC. “All we have is assaults by black males, so we need more details. That’s why we’re asking for the community’s help,” said Denver Police Department Sonny Jackson.
Denver has been the scene of dozens of examples of black mob violence over the last four years. At least one media outlet remembered, at least partially:
“In 2009 and 2011 there were a series of attacks in the downtown Denver area where African-Americans were targeting whites and Hispanics,” said the NBC affiliate. “According to police reports, in the New Year’s Day cases, the victims were white men and they reported their attackers were black.”
In July 2013, a member of the United States Air Force was killed by gunfire after a large gathering of black people erupted into fighting and shooting.
One week later, four black people were arrested after a “large fight” and charged with assaulting two people downtown.
In June 2011, a group of black people attacked white people in the same area, at the same time of day, but they used baseball bats.
The next day, June 26, a couple was in a downtown alley near their vehicle when a group of men walked up and “assaulted them with a baseball bat and demanded money,” a police report said. The robbers grabbed the woman’s purse and ran to a waiting car, police said. The attackers are not nice people,” Jackson told the ABC affiliate.
Police describe the attackers as four to five black men, ages 18 to 21 years.
But the big attacks, the ones people in Denver remember the best, began in the summer of 2009. Four months later, police arrested 38 black people for the assault of 28 non-black people.
The ABC affiliate did not flinch when it reported the details of some of the attacks in a story called: “Black Gangs Vented Hatred For Whites In Downtown Attacks.”
“I hate you f—ing white people,” said a black woman in a large group of black men, according to the victim who was beaten up as he and three buddies left a (downtown) bar after midnight on Aug. 30. “F—- you, white boys.”
“Why do you hate white people?” the man recalled asking. “That’s when I got hit. They beat the crap out of me,” he added, saying that 15 to 20 men beat him to the ground. “They just swarmed you,” said the man who curled up on the ground to shield his face.”You basically just had to protect yourself and hope they didn’t kill you.”
Many of the attacks were on video. The report continued: One suspect, Denita Mayfield told police: “They all brag about beating up white people.”
During an Aug. 2 attack, suspect Allen Ford told police his alleged accomplice, Xavier Francis, tossed a white man through a glass window behind the Bash nightclub.
“I seen him pick the little white boy up and throw him through the glass,” Ford told police, according to court records. Police obtained security camera video showing the victim fly through the window, said ABC.
“In the more than two dozen attacks, victims’ injuries included a skull fracture as well as broken noses and eye sockets when they were blindsided by punches that often knocked them unconscious. One man was so savagely attacked that he was hospitalized in a coma for a while,”
“Several of the 38 young male and female suspects arrested by police recently said the gangs often targeted lone white and Hispanic men because they didn’t “fight back” and they had money, iPods and other valuable gadgets that attackers coveted.”
After the arrests, it was revealed the police knew about the pattern of racial violence for at least three months, but did not tell the public. Said one victim: “I’m kind of upset that (police) didn’t make it public,” said the Westminster beating victim. “I would have been more vigilant. It would have made people a lot more on guard.”
That’s what the victim said when he thought the assaults were over. Only they were not. By June 1 of the next year, police arrested 8 more black people “after downtown attacks continue” on white people, said the NBC affiliate.
One of the men arrested was among the 38 arrested for the previous year’s racial violence. He had been convicted, but was back on the streets because he only received probation.
Police described several of the 2010 attacks as “unusual” because they featured a black man attacking a white person for no apparent reason.
“It seems unusual there was no confrontation,” police Lt. Matt Murray told the NBC affiliate. “They didn’t know each other and we are looking at that and saying that’s pretty unusual and some of these other ones have the same characteristics.”

They said they were going to run it. We went through several edits. They scheduled it.
Then pulled it. Come to think of it, that is not canceling. That is censoring. See you at banned book week.
Here it is… i left in the original editing comments from the Post … my favorite one: Talking about Black Beach Week in Miami Beach: IS THAT ACCURATE?
Come on, man!
Enjoy the forbidden fruit:
If It Can Happen in Denver …. by Colin Flaherty
When I told my friends I was working on a magazine article, then book, about a tsunami of racial violence in America over the last two years, they all said, “I haven’t heard about that.”
When writer and attorney John Bennett told me Denver was the site of one of the most organized and violent and sustained examples of racial violence in the country, I told him: “I haven’t heard about that.”
People in Denver remember the story. Even if the rest of us do not: Two years ago, Denver police arrested 35 black men for systematically beating white and Latino men over a period of four months. Some people were hurt bad.
Denver may have been ahead of the racial violence curved, but it is far from alone.
In hundreds of episodes in more than 50 cities over the last two years, groups of black people are roaming the streets of America — assaulting, intimidating, stalking, threatening, vandalizing, stealing, shooting, stabbing, even raping and killing.
Unlike the Denver INCIDENT? , local media WHERE? and public officials WHERE? are often silent.
Crime is color blind, says a Milwaukee police chief. Race is not important and if you notice, you are a racist, a Chicago newspaper editor says. IS THAT A DIRECT QUOTE? CAN YOU MAKE IT ONE? OR NAME THE EDITOR… ?
That denies the obvious: America is the most race conscious society in the world.
We learn that every day from black caucuses, black teachers, black unions, black ministers, black colleges, black high schools, black music, black moguls, black hair business owners, black public employees, black art, black names, black poets, black inventors, black soldiers.
Everything except black violent crime. That is taboo.
Except for those who would try and deny it. Or excuse it.
Denver community activist Alvertis Simmons said this kind of violence happens in the black community all the time. “But when they victimize White people, then it’s an issue and that is wrong,” she told the Post. THE DENVER POST? WHEN? WE CAN’T FIND IT IN OUR ARCHIVES.
Simmons was presaging remarks from Congressman Bobby Rush of Chicago and black elected leaders all over the country who shrugged off the assaults as an everyday fact of life in black neighborhoods. WHEN WERE THOSE REMARKS?
But Denver is not New York or Chicago or Philadelphia, where racial tensions and violence are more well known. And more wide spread.
The message of Denver is that if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere. And it did.
In WHERE IN IOWA? Iowa, last year, following a racial disturbance at the state fair, one police report called it “Beat Whitey Night.”
Peoria? Absolutely: Right in the middle of Middle America.
Milwaukee? Yes, on the Fourth of July, after looting a nearby convenience store, a crowd of nearly 100 blacks set upon a some white teens on a picnic. After beating one white woman, a black woman noted “Oh, White girl bleed a lot.”
At the Wisconsin state fair, just a few weeks later, hundreds of black people roamed the fairgrounds, targeting white people for violence. You didn’t hear about that?
Then you probably did not hear about Black Beach Week, held every year in Miami Beach over the Memorial Day Weekend. This year, 200,000 black people created a three day riot complete with shootings, killing, mountains of filth and everything in between IS THAT ACCURATE? — causing another kind of riot: An uprising to shut down this annual violent uprising.
The list of cities goes on and on.
Public officials, local media and even victims may be too squeamish to talk about the new race riots, but YouTube is not. Neither is talk radio.
So we learn in fits and starts and pieces and glimpses. Finally, we are connecting the dots. Which is good: The solutions cannot begin until the denial ends. But first we all need to hear about it.
I just finished a radio show where I promised I would post an excerpt from my upcoming book on black mob violence at fairs and carnivals.
The daughter of the host was a victim of black mob violence at a county fair over the weekend.
Some earlier episodes of black mob violence at county fairs, Memorial Day picnics and Fourth of July celebrations is also covered in White Girl Bleed a Lot.
So without further ado:
Racial Mayhem at Carnivals:
Cotton Candy and Black Mob Violence
Every discussion of the epidemic of black mob violence at carnivals and fairs should begin with two words: Lori Lavorato.
We have already met her in this book, but she is worth remembering again because she was fired for telling the truth about racial violence at the Iowa State Fair.
But that was so long ago: Beat Whitey Night 2011 is now just a distant memory. Let’s flash forward to more than a dozen, more recent examples of black mob violence at fairs and carnivals all around the country, starting in Hampton, Virginia 2013.
Over Memorial Day weekend, five people were shot, one died, and two have been arrested for murder following an outbreak of black mob violence at the Hampton Coliseum Spring Carnival.
The shooting happened on Saturday night, the third day of the event, while police were in another part of the fairgrounds trying to quell a different case of black mob violence, one of several prior to the killing, some involving 50 to 100 people.
Officials cancelled the remainder of what was scheduled to be a 10-day affair. This was not the first episode of shooting or mob violence at the Fair: Last year, shots were fired but no one was killed.
As is often the case, the readers tells the story the reporters cannot. Or will not.
“Every year this carnival attracts thugs and every year it is a breading ground for violence,” said a reader of the Daily Press in Hampton. “Children want to attend the carnival and the low-lifes in this area are drawn to it for some reason. I would LOVE to be able to bring my children to the carnival but it’s just not safe.
And oh yeah, its been happening here a long time.
Some complained that anyone drawing attention to the fact that the fighters, the shooters, and the people shot were all black is racist: “A mother and father have lost their child, a sibling has loss his brother and the only thing some of you racist people can only say is negative things.”
Notice the script flip: The victims are now the predators. And the predators? All of a sudden they are the victims.
Nice.
You have to decide, right here. Right now. That you are not going to let people do that anymore.
Are you in?
Others hoped that if the paper ignored the violence — including the racial aspect of it — that would Hampton a better place: “It is probably a good idea for the daily papers to avoid writing about this nonsense and inform the community on positive attributes going on other places.”
Which how newspapers all around the country put their readers in danger they had no idea even existed.
Hampton is 30 miles from Virginia Beach, where just a few weeks before, 40,000 black people rampaged through the beach town on a Saturday night, destroying property and creating violence.
On the other side of the state in Roanoke, the Drew Expo 2012 was forced to close their carnival early after it was the scene of black mob violence involving 500 people both in and out of the fair. No arrests were made. The Expo went off in 2013 with large-scale police presence that prevented large scale violence that city officials said would cause them to abolish the Expo if it happened again.
In the Detroit metro area, black mob violence struck at least three carnivals in May 2013. In Westland, according to ClickonDetroit.com:
“Police say more than 100 teenagers — mostly boys — started a fight during the Westland Firefighters Charity Fund Carnival. It happened in a shopping center parking lot where the violence got so out of hand that it spilled over to neighboring businesses”
Two weeks later at the St. Mary’s Polish Country Fair in neighboring Orchard Lake, hundreds of black people fought and destroyed property during the festival.
Some on video.
Eddie Kulczyk said he “saw the video on clickondetroit.com. Of all of the fights, definitely didn’t look like they were Polish people causing the trouble.”
“It seems that every community has the same issue,” said Westland city councilman Bill Johnson. “It’s just not safe.” He called for a ban on the carnival.
In Taylor, another suburb of Detroit, several fights broke out at the Gibraltar Trade Center carnival at the beginning of May. Several people reported hearing gun shots but the police chief denied anything like that happened.
“My daughter and her friends went to this carnival and I heard someone was stabbed along with gunshots fired, they were running into the building to get away from them,” said Teresa Lynne J. In the comments section of the News Herald.
“My son was there and he said that there was also gunfire and that he and his girlfriend were running for their lives!,” said another parent.
“Numerous people have posted hearing gunshots, as well as having family working at Heritage Hospital, and reporting how busy they were due to the fight at GTC,” posted another reader. “So, to say no one was injured, I believe is a complete falsehood, and a case of the mayor trying to cover how dangerous it really is there.”
The State Fair that probably got the most attention for racial violence was Milwaukee in 2011. Hundreds of black people roamed in and out of the fairgrounds, beating up white people at will.
Which was not too much different that what 50-100 black people did just three weeks before when they looted a Milwaukee convenience store, then, two blocks away, assaulted several people on an Independence Day holiday picnic.
“White Girl Bleed a Lot,” said one of the attackers, standing and laughing over her victim.
Milwaukee is also the site of frequent and intense black mob violence at the Juneteenth festivals, local malls and even St. Patrick’s day parades.
The newspapers and local TV news rarely identify the culprits by race. But this time, they had little choice: The people on the 911 calls sure did. Here are a few: Milwaukee State Fair 911 calls:
The editors at the local paper promised they would get to the bottom of it: “This is our fair, a showcase and celebration of the state, and reports of African-American teenagers randomly beating up white fair-goers – similar to attacks last month in the Riverwest neighborhood – are shocking. We simply can’t let this happen again. ”
That turned out not to be true.
But 2011 was such a long time ago. Let’s get back to 2014, April in Wyoming, Michigan. The local press called it a brawl. Victims called it assault.
“I was yelling, ‘Please stop, please leave me alone.’ If you watch the video, you can hear me screaming for my life,” one victim said to Wood TV 8.
The victim’s mother saw it on video. She did not call it brawl: “The victim’s mother Janice said she was surprised her daughter survived after watching the video. “They were stomping her like a piece of meat, and you can hear the laughter and the excitement. And she wasn’t the only victim that night,” she said. “I had to ask myself how she lived through it.”
Good question. But no one connected to her daughter’s beating was arrested. So we will never know. But some of the locals know one thing that the press there will never say:
“This was Beat Whitey Night, just like the Wisconsin State Fair or the Denver Attacks or the Atlanta attacks or the Philadelphia attacks or the attacks at the Ohio State Fair….The video shows the race of the perps.”
Over in Sandusky, Ohio, home of the Cedar Point amusement park, police arrested 16 black people in June of 2014 for having a riot — not in the park, but in their living spaces after the park was closed.
Charged with aggravated rioting were Lawanda, Cashia, Laon, Marquise, Kyreese, Dajon, Ja’Quan and a few others.
Just a few weeks before, a mob of 50 to 100 black people rampaged through the annual Football Fair in Pennsville, New Jersey.
They beat parents, they beat kids, they beat coaches. They destroyed property. And attacked police too.
Two cops ended up in the hospital, and seven people were arrested. Some on video.
And a local reporter called the Willie Shields talk radio show on WLVT radio to complain that I had injected raced into it. When race had nothing to do with it, he said.
Willie handled it.
We don’t have to worry abut that.
Florida State Fair in Tampa
Same old same old.
As black mob violence at carnivals go, the 2014 racial mayhem at the Florida State Fair in Tampa was not that big of a deal.
Sure hundreds of black people creating mayhem. On video. Police were attacked. Property destroyed. Fair-goers beaten. Venders assaulted. Cell phones stolen. An old lady in a wheelchair robbed. People jumping fences and refusing to pay for rides. The fair closed early. And most of the media glossed over most of it.
Despite the fact that officials even said they even expected it.
The local daily paper in Tampa carried a story about a Trayvon Martin commemoration rally in Miami — his birthday was over the weekend — but nothing about the widespread racial violence at the Fair in its own backyard.
Like most of the examples from the previous chapter, the local media in Tampa reported the violence piecemeal: Some said it was just a few teens fighting. Others reported the violence in greater detail: hundreds of teens attacking police, fair-goers and workers. But absent one fact: The central organizing feature of the crowd committing the mayhem. They were black.
Many people who attended the fair noticed the omission, and thought it important enough to let others know too:
“The article failed to mention all the facts: Black males were the ones starting and committing the crimes,” said Annie Penn at the message board of the local ABC affiliate in response to it story. “I was there!”
Another fair-goer filled in a few more blanks for the ABC story:
“This is a lie,” said Jamie Piaskowski about the sanitized version of the story. “I was there in the midst of it all. The carnies had to move tables to protect their vendor trailers and people. There was more than a few kids. This was a few hundred kids in a mob mentality. It was a very dangerous situation. It makes me sick to see the news and the police whitewash this.”
Ever get the impression the natives are getting restless?
The mayhem at the Florida State Fair started out on a Friday with free tickets for students day. By evening, assaults and property damage were breaking out all over the fairgrounds.
David Donohue contacted WTSP news after he saw the other news reports because he wanted people to know what really happened was more than just a few fights. “We were standing in front of a ride when all of a sudden a rush came by and I got knocked up against a booth,” Donohue said.
His two children described how they were punched in the face, pushed down, and stepped on. “They trampled me,” said Mason Donohue, “then another guy came and stomped on my chest.”
Sheriff deputies ejected 99 people for fighting. The Tampa Bay Times reports deputies were outnumbered and overwhelmed. “Approximately 200 deputies could not handle the chaos, sheriff’s officials said. A commander with 30 years of experience, Maj. Tom Feeney, said it’s the worst thing he has seen in law enforcement.”
One deputy was trying to break up a fight when the crowd turned on him. “Several juveniles jumped on him,” the police spokesman told WTSP. “They were stealing candy apples from concession stands and throwing them at our deputies.”
Three hours after the 99 “teens” were kicked out, one of the them was killed trying to cross a nearby interstate freeway. And now, we learn from the Sheriff’s Department, that violence at the fair is something they expect because it happens so much.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that the person who died was “Andrew Joseph III, one of 99 people ejected that day, which is not uncommon on the first Friday of the fair,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter. “There are usually a lot of young high school kids that start fights with each other and cause problems.”
Usually? This is the first time at the Florida State Fair that officials have ever said violence was a regular problem they could predict.
Maybe next year they can sell tickets.
And oh yeah, that has been happening here a long time.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that next year, the sheriff’s department is going to notify the several black groups including the NAACP that violence and theft and mayhem was not acceptable at the state fair.
The newspaper did not say why the sheriff’s department singled out black groups.
White Girl Bleed a Lot documents even more cases at fairs and carnivals around the country.

Hi Colin – I commend you for your brave and terrific journalism, as you document the black against white violence which is frequent in our country. It has happened a lot even here in Colorado, including my town, Colorado Springs, and also Denver.
The New York Times no longer just ignores racial violence. Now the Grey Lady actively denies it.
Over the weekend, the New York Times questioned whether recent reports of black mob violence in the form of the “Knockout Game” are really just “urban legends.” Like Big Foot.
Here’s the difference: Big Foot is alive: Thousands of them, victims of black mob violence that local press often dismisses as “random” attacks from “unruly teenagers.” Many of the attacks are on video. Hundreds.
Newspaper editor says stories about black mob violence without statistics are anecdotal. Cherry picking. But people who present statistics are accused of stereotyping. Profiling.
Either way, following The Times formula, reporters produce stories like over the weekend in Philadelphia, where the local NBC affiliate reported on the latest example of the Knockout Game without citing its central organizing feature: The race of the attacker. And the race of the victim.
The male victim was riding his bike along the 900 block of Catherine Street in the Bella Vista section of the city just before 8 p.m. on Friday when he was randomly punched by a group of teens, police said.
After being hit, police say the cyclist asked the group — made up of five teen boys and three teen girls — why they hit him. Without answering, the group then continued beating the man.
First things first: The attack was not random. The attackers were black. The victim was white. Fitting a pattern of dozens of cases of black mob violence in Philadelphia over the last two years. Many documented in White Girl Bleed a Lot: The Return of Racial Violence and How the Media Ignore it.
Twenty black people from the party stood 20 feet away.
“Do you play football,?” one asked him.
Trevor does not remember answering. He does not remember the punches breaking bones in his face. Or the teeth getting knocked out. Or the seizures he was having when his roommates found him soon after.
“The same people attacked one of the roommates earlier,” said Sherry Godfrey, Trevor’s mom, who recently appeared on the Sean Hannity to talk about her Knockout Game experience. “And another college student a few weeks later. But they were never arrested. Nor did the story make local papers until one year later.”
Mayor Francis Slay of St. Louis knows the Knockout Game is real. Slay and his bodyguard had just left a Pink Floyd tribute show and were riding by a city library in October 2011 when they saw a man in the gutter, unconscious.
That man was 51-year old Matt Quain, who had been on his way home from a local grocery story, ready to celebrate a Cardinals’ victory in the World Series. The Post-Dispatch reports some of the details:
“Eighteen teenagers jumped on him and started hitting him with bricks for no apparent reason,” said Charlie Quain, the victim’s nephew. Quain’s uncle was walking home with a neighbor when he was attacked in front of a public library. Nothing was taken from him, and he was able to escape before things escalated.
The game has caused deaths in the past.
“You can just see the lines and the bruising where the edge of the bricks were hitting him,” Quain said. “His jaw is wired shut. It has to be for at least six weeks.”
Quain was left in a neck brace, with a broken jaw, black eye and stitches in his face.
The Mayor saw the attackers ‘saunter” away. Soon, seven black people were in custody.
A few days after assault, Quain’s family pleaded for an end to to the “sickening attacks.”
Police held a meeting at the school were most of the suspects attended. Please stop the Knockout Game, they begged.
Two weeks later, a 54-year old man was another victim. Two of the people arrested were at the meeting.
The Quain trial was supposed to begin in January. Instead, the district attorney dropped charges because a 13-year old witness did not show up for the trial.
Mayor Slay said it was a case of witness tampering. “My strong guess is that she was intimidated, threatened not to testify which is why she did not show up,” Slay said to the Post Dispatch. “The case fell apart and the second-degree assault charges were dropped, followed by cheers and high-fives among the defendants.”
There was also plenty of jubilation on Facebook, which the Post-Dispatch reported. Including a dispatch from a black person known as the Knockout King because he was universally acclaimed to be the master of this athletic art form:
“FREE ALL MY TKO GUYS.”
TKO, of course, is a boxing term for Technical Knock Out and is also a popular graffiti tag in that neighborhood.
Despite repeated pleas for peace from police, newspapers and the Quain family, a few days after the charges were dropped, the alleged assailants were back. And they were after Quain. Again.
KMOV TV talked to the shaken Quain: “I looked up and I was flinching because he had his fists up in the air,” Quain said. Quain then pulled out a can of pepper spray and the accused attackers fled the scene.”
Despite the otherwise excellent coverage, at no time did the Post-Dispatch ever include a description of the attackers that included their race.
Which is in keeping with standards suggested by the Society of Professional Journalists on how to report racial crime: Don’t.
The paper even disabled the comments section of news stories associated with this and other Knockout attacks because readers were demanding to know why the newspaper refused to report on the race of the predators.
The same paper that constantly reports on black caucuses, black churches, black colleges, black TV, black radio, and other black institutions — with many stories written by members of the National Association of Black Journalists — says race may be relevant to everything else. But not crime.
“Regarding the local newspaper shutting down the comments section on stories related to The Knockout Game, you should note it is actually now much worse than that,” said Deb, a St. Louis resident. “Because citizens were so angry at purposeful non-reporting and under-reporting of many stories here in St. Louis, they would take to the Comments Section of high profile crime stories in the online edition of our local paper to discuss & share what they know that the local paper was not reporting.”
“The Post-Dispatch got tired of being made to look bad and incompetent when the Comments Section had more useful and factual information than the original newspaper article did.”
Not discussing the race of the assailants is the most cherished rules of the Knockout Game. The Times figured that much out.
Earlier this year, Demetrius Murphy, one of those accused in the Quain Knockout Game, was shot and killing trying to break into a St. Louis home. He was 15. His grandfather compared Demetrius to Trayvon Martin, and said, despite his criminal history he was a good boy and never wanted to hurt anyone.
Joyce “talked to a teenager who claimed to be part of the “Knockout Kings,” a group that likes to attack random people on the street. There have been a number of serious injuries – even a death associated with the attacks. Joyce says the teenager claims to have knocked out more than 300 people.”
That did not matter to The Times.
In Philadelphia, Temple University hired a community organizer to help them treat racial violence as a public health problem. He said he was not too worried about it, because it was just “kids, blowing off some steam.”
But the thug point of view is already well represented at The Times: Either it is not happening. Or not important.
Weaver jammed a taser — KL-800 Type Stun Gun capable of generating 1.8 million volts — into the ribs of a man waiting for his daughter at a school bus stop. He pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. The man pulled a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver and shot Weaver as he tried to escape to the getaway van where two of his accomplices waited.
According to MLive.com:
“Weaver ran, sat down across the street, his leg going numb, bleeding. Pleading.
“‘I’m sorry, please don’t kill me, I don’t know why I did that, I’m high you know, I just wanna go home,’” the teen told the man who had just shot him.”
“I played about 6 or 7 times but the last time was my last. Decided to taze the poor fella then shortly after got shot 2 times. I’m in jail for a year but I’m a changed man now.”
ABC News took the denial to a new level over the weekend, when it reported that a Denver man was one of the “first people in that city to be a victim of the “knockout” game.”
This contradicts earlier reports of similar racial violence that rocked Denver in 2011. It took a while, but the black mob violence eventually became so blatant and so public that even the ABC affiliate could not ignore it any more. Here’s a portion of that report:
A couple dozen arrest warrant affidavits unsealed Friday offer chilling insights into the 26 racially-motivated “blitz attacks,” which stretched from July 17 to Nov. 17.
One unidentified suspect told police “that the members of his gang earn status in the gang by beating up ‘white dudes,’” according to court records. He added that the gangs targeted “drunk white guys,” exiting bars and nightclubs in the entertainment district.
The suspects allegedly bragged about knocking out white victims with one punch to the head. Victims lying on the ground were “stomped” and even tossed through glass windows.
In the latest report, ABC trotted out the same experts as the other national news outlets, denying the Knockout Games have anything to do with race. They also came up with a solution “Juvenile delinquency experts say a good punishment for these teens would be empathy training, such as volunteering at a homeless shelter. “
Here is what they ALWAYS say about the racial violence documented in the book White Girl Bleed a Lot:
1) It is not happening.
2) Here is why it is happening.
Salon did it. Then CNN. Then MSNBC. The former head of a state-wide NAACP did it on my radio show. Now comes Casey Seiler, a reporter at the Albany Times-Union. Seiler does not approve of a recent FrontPage story about black mob violence in Schenectady. He says “the riot has no color.”
Mr. Seiler accuses me of forgetting what is causing all this black mob violence.
Seiler insists White Girl Bleed a Lot ignores the “tangled sociological reasons for those statistics, such as the economic and cultural aftereffects of hundreds of years of white racism.”
It’s nice catching liberals in unguarded moments. In between name calling, that is.
What touched off Seiler’s ire was a recent episode in a Schenectady movie theater, documented in FrontPage.com. The local paper picks up what happened to a father and his two daughters. The group of black people
ran up and down the aisle yelling and banging a plastic garbage can near the entrance to the theater.
As the credits rolled at the end of the movie, one of the young men accosted the victim from behind, punching him in the head, District Attorney William Sanderson said. A second male did the same thing, he said.
After the second punch, the man stood and blocked the third punch before the whole group attacked him, the prosecutor said.
They knocked the man to the ground, repeatedly punched and kicked him and dragged him on his knees, Sanderson said.
When one of the victim’s 15-year-old twin daughters tried to help her father, she also was hit. One of the assailants ran off with her cellphone.
It’s unclear how long the assault lasted, but no one inside the theater tried to help the victim.
All of the 8 alleged assailants were black. Seiler says I could not possibly know that because two of the people arrested are juveniles and the court records are sealed.
I know that from the same people who told me about the incident in the first place: People who belong to Schenectady area law enforcement agencies. The same people who said a hell of a lot more than 8 black people were involved in that beating.
There were witnesses to this assault — and other episodes of racial violence in Shenectady. They write about it in Schenectady web sites. They wrote me emails. I also talked to them.
It’s called reporting. The same skills that allowed me to show how a black man accused of trying to kill his white girl friend was unjustly convicted. His name was Kelvin Wiley. That story got out him out of prison and was featured on NPR, the Los Angeles Times, Court TV and about a gajillion other places.
And, by the way, Mr. Seiler, the father and two daughters who were beat in the movie theater are not OK. Thanks for not asking.
Mr. Seiler says I ignore white mob violence, and he produces an example of it from two years ago. He obviously missed my story on the (disappointingly tepid) white riot from a few weeks ago. It’s happened! An all-white riot
White Girl Bleed a Lot documents more than 500 examples of recent black mob violence. And Mr. Seiler wants to dismiss it with two example of some unruly teenagers. They were probably just “just blowing off some steam.” That’s what a community activist told a Temple University medical journal about black mob violence in Philadelphia.
The issue is not whether black mob violence exists. But whether it exists exponentially out of proportion.
Let’s check it: I’ll see those two white riots from the last few years, and raise you dozens of examples of black mob violence and black on white crime from over the last few months. Some fatal. Some on video.
In San Leandro, California in September, a black man punched the manager of a Safeway store in the face. He’s in critical condition. On video.
From San Leandro, September 2013. The Knockout Game.
Mr. Seiler may not be aware of the Knockout Game. And how this version of black on white violence happens all over country. Sometimes in mobs. Sometimes not. Sometimes fatal. Sometimes not. A St. Louis judge recently said one man in that town alone is responsible for 300 such attacks. Some on video.
A viewer at the ABC affiliate in San Francisco filled in nicely for Mr. Seiler. He said the beating was justified because the store manager was a racist:
“Maybe just maybe he didn’t take to kindly to being racially profiled and hmm hit the manager. If you have never been racially profiled you don’t know how you would react.”
Thanks for making that up.
If that reader ever wants to go into the newspaper racket, I predict a long and glorious future for him, as long as he does not mind being a mouthpiece for liberal politicians in east coast state capitals.
In Denver, five black men were captured in September on video beating and kicking a man at a light rail station. Some folks are upset upset they did not hear about this episode of racial violence for three weeks. It happened about the same time as the San Leandro beat down.
Mr. Seiler is upset they heard about it all.
.
“The people in Denver and Schenectady did not hold signs, or issue a press release or shout racial epithets,” said Taleeb Starkes, author of the Amazon best selling book, Uncivil War. “So legally, this is not a hate crime. But to ignore the racial aspect of this violence is foolish. And dangerous.”
“By itself, this incident was not earth shaking. But when looked at with thousands of other similar episodes across the country, it is part of an tide of black mob violence that is exponentially out of proportion. Which people like Seiler cannot explain. Only ignore. Deny. Distort. Mock. Anything but tell the truth. All the while making sure they stay out of places where they may be subject to similar racial violence. That is called hypocrisy. And that is why hate crime numbers seriously understate the epic levels of black mob violence.”
Earlier this month, a Marine Corp veteran on a cross country run for charity was the victim of a the Knockout Game in Wilmington, Delaware. Or, as Fox News put it: The assailant “without provocation, allegedly punched O’Toole in the face.”
A few nights before at the same corner — the corner where your humble correspondent worked for one year during high school, across the street from a head shop owned by the mother of Bob Marley — three people were shot while dozens of black people were waiting in line for the release of the new Air Jordan basketball shoes.
These events happened about a mile from where, two months before, 10 black people allegedly watched as two of their friends raped two women in a Wilmington park.
In St. Paul, Minnesota earlier this month, a car full of black people stopped a white woman to ask for directions. They were wearing wigs. They grabbed her, beat her, robbed her, pulled her down by her hair, removed her pants, then pissed on her.
Says KTSP TV news: “The woman reported she thought she was going to get raped. She heard one man say, “Mitch you took that white b****’s phone.”
Former prison psychologist Marlin Newburn says sadism is a common feature of black mob violence:
“Black predators commonly humiliate their victims, regardless of race, and it is a black criminal cultural trait as is getting revenge,” Newburn said. “I’ve evaluated black murderers who made their victims beg prior to killing them. A lone survivor of one such trauma reported this in court. The killers were remorseless, and like all the others, the only regret they had was getting caught.”
“Sadism is also a demonstration of the absence of a conscience while gaining primitive sense of personal power. This is the lowest and most brutal form of anti-social personality disorder. There is great satisfaction for the psychopath in harming others, physically and/or emotionally, and it borders on an addiction, a pathological beast that must be fed,” Newburn said.
Or, as one person put it as he was participating in a black mob beat down in Philadelphia: “It’s not our fault you can’t fight.”
Were the father and his two daughters at fault, Mr. Seiler? For their racism? Or their inability to fight off large groups of black people?
Stay tuned.
Mr. Seiler is probably not aware that St. Paul and Minneapolis and Denver and Wilmington are the scenes of more than 100 examples of black mob violence over the last several years alone. Including earlier this summer in St. Paul, where Ray Widstrand ran into a mob of 100 black people near his apartment in the black part of town.
He is recovering from a fractured skull and other injuries.
In Fresno earlier this month, 13 people were shot and one died during an after-party for the largest gathering of black bikers on the West Coast. The Washington Post even did a story on it, somehow forgetting to mention the racial nature of the gathering.
There were 5000 black bikers in town for this semi-annual event. Many of their activities on are video.
Outlets like the Washington Post and the Times-Union regularly publish stories about black caucuses, black colleges, black churches, black TV, black radio, black newspapers, black magazines, black professional groups and on and on and on. But when it comes to epidemic levels of black mob violence, Mr. Seiler says he is color-blind. Or he has no evidence that crime was “racially motivated.”
How about something closer to home for Mr. Seiler: Rochester also has a long history of frequent and intense bouts with racial violence. From downtown to the city’s Lilac Festival, black mob violence is now an accepted feature of life in that town.
For those who still live there, that is.
City Councilman Adam McFadden explained black mob violence at a popular holiday gathering thusly: “It’s just that you had a lot of people there who are not used to that culture and got to witness it personally.”
Some moved to the suburbs to escape it. That did not last long: In September, police from four agencies were called to neighboring Irondequoit to break up fights in and out side of a movie theater involving 400 to 500 black people from Rochester. Some of it on video.
The chief of police blamed the violence on a scary movie. No one was arrested. When the fighting died down, police called the local bus company and everyone went back to Rochester.
In Buffalo, after a series on black mob attacks on students at a local university, the police chief said the college students were from rural areas and needed to get used to life in the big city. For Mr. Seiler’s benefit, let’s get the exact quote with a link: “The City of Buffalo is an urban environment, and if you come from a rural section of the state, this is a different setting,” Buffalo State College Police Chief Peter Carey said.
That happens a lot, blaming the victim. In Columbia, South Carolina, the police chief blamed a series of black mob beat downs on white kids who drink too much.Black mob violence blamed on white kids drinking
In between scribbling down these non-sensical quotes, not one reporter asked “Really?”
Really.
In Utica, black mob violence is an almost daily occurrence over the last six months. Mr. Seiler does not have to believe me. The Utica police department Tweets about it. As do the people involved.
Mr. Seiler may deny black mob violence exists. But the people who create it often brag about it. Make music videos of it. Tweet it. Create hip hop songs glorifying it.
My own favorite is “Start a Riot” by 2Chainz. Last I looked it had 11 million viewers on YouTube. Sorry, that was a month ago: Now it is up to 12 million.
And of course, let’s not forget teenage hip hopper Chief Keef. The New York Times celebrated Chief Keef in a review. They said rapping about drugs, violence, murder, more drugs and more violence was keeping it real.
His video “I Don’t Like” has a combined 40 million views. But the lyrics are so insane that the New York Times could not even quote one or two lines. Check them out yourself.
And let’s not forget Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, Saratoga Springs and other places in New York. No matter how much Mr. Seiler wishes we would.
In Syracuse, a black mob killed a man at a bus stop earlier this year. They kicked his eye out. After fleeing, they realized he was helpless. So they returned and beat him some more. Days later, a Syracuse father wrote me an email — published at WND — about how his son was a victim of black mob violence a few days later.
In North Carolina, Whiteville over the weekend, police used Tasers to break up a large fight. Cops say an increasing number of interactions with black people involve defiance and physical challenges.
Several of which are documented in White Girl Bleed a Lot. On video. Many in North Carolina. Every been to Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, or Greensboro, Mr. Seiler?
If you ever go, let me know: I’ll be happy to supply you with some maps as to where you can conduct your own investigation.
This is a very, very long list, Mr. Seiler. Mobs big and small. Cities big and small. Ever hear about Beat Whitey Night at the Iowa State Fair? Three nights of black mob violence in and out of the fairgrounds. When reporters asked Lori Lovorato if black mobs were beating up white people, she told the truth.
Then got fired.
That’s why I wrote the book. For people like Mr. Seiler.
